Slave Labor

I decided it is about time for the kids to start pulling their weight a little bit more around the house. They do some very small things like emptying the dishwasher, taking care of their laundry, and cleaning their rooms every once and a while, but that is about it. When I was talking with a girl in my ward that has kids Walker and Carter's age and she told me that she has her kids clean their bathroom I decided my kids needed to start cleaning theirs. I did try to have them start this a few years ago and they were just too small to reach all of the places that needed to be scrubbed, so I took back over. They didn't whine too much when I told them they were going to do this. I let them choose two things to clean and then told them what to do and supervised. They were pretty proud of themselves when they were done, and were very happy to brag to dad when he got home that evening. We'll see how long this last, but I was very happy to have the help.Walker scrubbing the tub.
Walker scrubbing the toilet, Reagan washing the mirror. Walker has always loved to scrub the inside of the toilet, whenever I am cleaning he will volunteer to do this for me. When I told him this time he had to wash the outside too he was not happy.

My kids love scrubbing toilets too. I just need to have the patience to do the supervising more often so I can take advantage of it.

My kids also ask to clean the toilets...what's the deal with that? I don't think I EVER asked my mom if I could do that job. Next time, feel free to plop on the couch with a lemonade(and an umbrella straw) and really take advantage of it. :)

Yeah, there's something about those toilet brushes that attract children. I'm tempted to buy a new one and let Ella play with it...I'm sure that would look really bad though.
